But when it's put into the hands of "elected" state boards we get the disaster that is going on in Texas right now where ignorant people get to rewrite history and science as right-wing christian* propaganda.

* Sorry if this personal quirk offends your sense of good style, Sam, but I refuse to inflate the value of this word by capitalizing it.
