DAVOS SECURITY CHIEF FOUND DEAD
News 24, South Africa - The police commander heading security for the World Economic Forum's annual meeting in Davos was found dead on in Switzerland, local police said, adding that it appeared to be a suicide.
"Dr Markus Reinhardt, commander of the Graubuenden cantonal police... was found dead in his hotel room in the morning," the south-eastern Swiss police force said in a statement on the eve of the meeting of global business and political leaders.
"All indications point to a suicide," it added.
Reinhardt, 61, has headed the canton's police force since 1984.
"With the passing of Dr Markus Reinhardt, canton Graubuenden, the Graubuenden and Swiss police have lost a treasured, important personality," said police in a tribute.
"Dr Markus Reinhardt, commander of the Graubuenden cantonal police... was found dead in his hotel room in the morning," the south-eastern Swiss police force said in a statement on the eve of the meeting of global business and political leaders.
